Bio

Lei Chen, is a chair professor in the Data Science and Analytics Thrust and Artificial Intelligence Thrust at HKUST (GZ), Fellow of the ACM and IEEE. Currently, Prof. Chen serves as the dean of Information Hub, the director of Big Data Institute at HKUST, MOE/MSRA Information Technology Key Laboratory. Prof. Chen’s research interests include Data-driven AI, knowledge graphs, blockchains, data privacy, crowdsourcing, spatial and temporal databases and query optimization on large graphs and probabilistic databases. He received his BS degree in computer science and engineering from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, MA degree from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, and PhD in computer science from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Prof. Chen received the SIGMOD Test-of-Time Award in 2015, Best research paper award in VLDB 2022. The system developed by Prof. Chen’s team won the excellent demonstration award in VLDB 2014. Prof. Chen had served as VLDB 2019 PC Co-chair. Currently, Prof. Chen serves as Editor-in-chief of IEEE Transaction on Data and Knowledge Engineering and an executive member of the VLDB endowment.

Professor Xiong Hui holds esteemed positions at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) as a Chair Professor and the Associate Vice President for Knowledge Transfer. Before joining HKUST(GZ), he was a Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University and held the position of Chief Scientist (Smart City) and Deputy Dean at Baidu Research Institute (T11), overseeing five research labs. Prof. Xiong has received numerous honors and awards, including being elected as Fellow of Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Distinguished Scientist of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and Fellow of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) and China Computer Federation (CCF). Prof. Xiong currently serves as the ACM SIGKDD Secretary, the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Encyclopedia of GIS, the Deputy Director of the CCF Expert Committee on Big Data, and the Editor-in-Chief of Nature npj | Artificial Intelligence. He is the principal investigator of the National Key R&D Program of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has received prestigious awards such as the ACM SIGKDD Service Award and the AAAI Best Paper Award. He is also recognized for his talent cultivation, as many of his PhD students have become tenure-track professors worldwide.

Bio

Dr Jinjun Chen is a Professor from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. He is Deputy Director of Swinburne Data Science Research Institute. He holds a PhD in Information Technology from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. His research interests include data privacy and security, cloud computing, data systems and related various research topics. His research results have been published in more than 180 papers in international journals and conferences, including various IEEE/ACM Transactions. He received various awards such as the Editorial Excellence and Eminence Award of IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing (2018), UTS Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Research Excellence Highly Commended (2014), UTS Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Research Excellence Finalist (2013), and Swinburne Vice-Chancellor’s Research Award (ECR) (2008).

Bio

Zidong Wang (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree in mathematics from Suzhou University, Suzhou, China, in 1986 and the M.Sc. degree in applied mathematics and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China, in 1990 and 1994, respectively.

He is currently a Professor of Dynamical Systems and Computing with the Department of Computer Science, Brunel University of London, Uxbridge, U.K. From 1990 to 2002, he held teaching and research appointments in universities in China, Germany, and the U.K. He has authored or coauthored a number of papers in international journals. His research interests include dynamical systems, signal processing, bioinformatics, control theory, and applications.

Dr. Wang is a holder of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship of Germany, the JSPS Research Fellowship of Japan, William Mong Visiting Research Fellowship of Hong Kong. Prof. Wang serves (or has served) as the Editor-in-Chief for International Journal of Systems Science, the Editor-in-Chief for Neurocomputing, the Editor-in-Chief for Systems Science and Control Engineering, and an Associate Editor for 12 international journals including IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON AUTOMATIC CONTROL, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CONTROL SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON NEURAL NETWORKS, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING, and IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SYSTEMS, MAN, AND CYBERNETICS-PART C. He is a Member of the Academia Europaea, a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, an Academician of the International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences, a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a member of program committee for many international conferences.
